Bhubaneswar, Oct 27 (UNI) The Public Sector National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has proposed to set up a 3,200 mw power project in Dhenkanal at an investment of Rs19,840 crore.

The NTPC proposal was today recommended to the High Power Committee for clearance by the Single window committee at its meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy.

Along with the NTPC project, the Committee today recommended another power project by the Sahara India Power Corporation Limited in joint venture project with China Geodial Overseas Power Company at an investment of Rs 5604 crore.

Industrial Development Corporation Limited Managing Director Ashok Meena told newspersons that the NTPC wanted to set up the project at Gajmara, but since a project already existed there the corporation was asked to find out another location for the plant.

The Committee, he said, also recommended Sahara India Corporation Ltd's joint venture with China Guodial Overseas Power Corporation Ltd, Beijing, to set up a 1320 MW project at Bolangir with an investment of Rs 5604 crore based on Tel river water.

Both the projects were recommended subjected to clearance by the Water Resource Department.

Mr Meena said in view of the water shortage in the lean seasons all the power plants were asked to make provisions to store water for two to three months.
