Chitrakoot, Oct 27 (UNI) A sea of devotees today celebrated Hanuman Jayanti amid tight security here.
As many as five lakh worshippers took a holy dip in river Mandakini and did 'parikrama' of Kamadigiri.
According to reports, the Jayanti of the Monkey God, was celebrated with religious fervour by saints and devotees, who sang holy hymns and also offered him 'chappan bhog' on the occasion.
Later, the same prasad was served to the devotees.
The district administration had made elaborate security arrangements for the day.
Meanwhile, people wee also seem througing for the renowned 'Deepdan' on the festival of lights Diwali fahing tomorrow.
According to the custom, the devotees take a holy dip in the Mandakini and later perform 'Deepdan' by lighting the earthen lamps.
The Diwali celebrations in the city hold importance as lord Rama, Laxman and Sita had spent maximum time of their 14-yearrs in exile here.
