Five deaths and over 1100 dengue cases in Ludhiana district

Hoshiarpur, Oct 27 (UNI) Five deaths and more than 1100 suspected dengue fever cases had been reported in Ludhiana district, 117 in Hoshiarpur district and 22 in Bhatinda district, Additional Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Punjab, C. S. Talwar said here today.

Mr talwar was interacting with media after reviewing the ongoing treatment being provided to the patients by the district health authorities to control the disease.

He said that out of 117 cases reported in Civil Hospital, Hoshiarpur, 15 were from the adjoining state of Himachal Pradesh.

Complete blood count of 1100 patients had been done in Hoshiarpur.

Besides, immunoglobulin in 24 cases had also been made, 500 platelet of rich plasma had been given and dengue card test of 125 cases had been done, he said.

Referring to the shortage of doctors in government health institutions, C S Talwar said that recruitment of 147 specialists doctors and 100 medical officers was being done. Pending promotion cases of 65 doctors had been cleared.

Earlier, the Additional Secretary addressed a meeting of medical officers in Civil Hospital and warned them that if any of the doctor was found doing private practice, strict action would be taken against him.
