Mumbai, Oct 27 (UNI) Commuters were today put to great hardship as the lifeline of the metropolis, local trains on the main as well as harbour line of Central Railway were hit hard due to shortage of staff.
A Central Railway spokesperson told UNI that due to festive season there was shortage of motormen and guards, which affected the train services since morning from 0930 hours. The services were brought back to normalcy at 1600 hours, the spokesperson added.
Elaborating on the situation, he said usually railway keeps four to five spare staff of motormen and guards. But, today ''we failed to manage properly.'' He said initially the trains were running 25 to 30 minutes late due to which the trains queued up on the tracks and passengers were stranded on the trains.
