Thane, Oct 26: For the families of two policemen, who were lynched by a furious mob way back on July 5, 2006 in the powerloom town of Bhiwandi here, Diwali will be something different this year, as a group of youth from Pune will celebrate the festival with them.
Pune-based Bhoi Trust member Dr Milind A Bhoi along with five other youths, including a Vande Mataram Sangathana member Vaibhav Wagh, came down to greet the two families with all the festive goodies.
Raosaheb Jagtap and Balashaeb Gangurde were killed in a violence that broke out in the communally sensitive Bhiwandi over construction of a police station in 2006.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Dr Bhoi said the organisation has decided to adopt the two families, who have lost their earning members, while on duty, and provide them with all kind of assistance. The organisation last year helped in conducting the marriage of Mr Gangurde's daughter.
He said they would be soon visiting the family of police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma, who died on September 19 during an encounter in Jamia Nagar, New Delhi, he added.
