Hooda rejects Sukhbir's claim on Chandigarh
Nabha, Oct 26 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today rejected the claim of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal that Chandigarh 'belonged' to Punjab.
Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the annual day function of Punjab Public School here, he said Chandigarh was the state capital of both Punjab and Haryana and one state cannot claim sole rights.
The SAD president had recently said if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power at the Centre after the next Lok Sabha polls, Punjab would get back Chandigarh.
Asked about the proposed separate management committee for the historic Gurdwaras situated in Haryana, Mr Hooda said on the demand of the Sikhs of his state, the government had formed a committee, headed by Agriculture Minister A S Chatha. The commitee was yet to submit its report, he added while making it clear that the government would proceed only after receiving the report.
