Child killed and 4 injured in gallery collapse

Surat, Oct 26 (UNI) A child was killed and four others seriously injured when three galleries of a three-storeyed shopping complex in Udhana area collapsed today.

According to Fire Department, three galleries of Saibaba shopping complex suddenly collapsed around 1600 hrs, trapping underneath five people, including a child.

The fire engine personnel rushed to the spot for rescue operations and they were assisted by local residents.

The child died in the mishap, while four others, including a woman, have been admitted to different hospitals in the city, where their condition was stated to be critical.

The reason for the collapse is yet to be ascertained.

The building, housing the shopping complex, is a 25 year old structure.
