Bhubaneswar, Oct 25 (UNI) The Planning Commission will soon announce a new development strategy initiative for the development of Maoist-affected districts of the entire country, Commission member Abhijit Sen said here today.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Sen said the details of the initiatives, prepared jointly by the Planning Commission, Ministry of Home and the Rural Development Ministry, would be announced soon.
Mr Sen said the step was being taken as the utilisation of fund was found to be very low in the Maoist-dominated areas.
After reviewing the progress of various state and Central government-sponsored projects at a meeting here, Mr Sen said the utilisation of fund in the JNURM under the Urban Development and the Rashtriya Krushi Vikash Yojanain Orissa was not very satisfactory.
He attributed the reason to the recent Urban Local bodies elections in the state.
Commenting on the implementation of the NREGS programme, Mr Sen said some of the Gram Panchayats have got funds, while some others ran short of funds. The state government, he said, had alleged poor allocation of money for the implementations of the scheme in the state.
The Planning Commission member suggested the state government to take up the matter with the Union Rural Development Ministry.
