Kakinada, Oct 25 (UNI) Dubai Dry Docks Limited has bagged the project, for a ship yard along with a dock yard in a 400-acre site adjoining the fishing harbour in Kakinada, Special Secretary to Andhra Pradesh government, Infrastructure and Investments and Ports K V Brahmananda Reddy said.
Talking to UNI here today, he said an MoU in this regard would be signed soon and added the project would give direct and indirect employment to over 20,000 people.
On modernisation of Madhurapudi airport at Rajahmundry, he said the ground lighting work was complete and the required permission for creating night landing facility was awaited from the Director General Civil Aviation.
Tenders were called for the construction of a terminal building complex at a cost of Rs 40 Crore, he said.
Stating that the government had agreed to provide 800 acres site as against the 1608 acres sought by the Civil Aviation department for the extension of the existing runway to accommodate bigger aircraft Mr Reddy said land acquisition was expected to be taken up shortly.
