Panaji, Oct 25 (UNI) Goa will organise a week-long Portuguese Cultural Programme (Semana De Cultura Portuguesa) from November 7-15 with the aim to promote the State as cultural destination of India, and Portugal as the gateway to Europe.
The Semana De Culture Portuguesa, Chairman Anil Couto and Vice-Chairman Xantarama Contoco jointly speaking to mediapersons here today said, theme of the week long celebration ''Conserve preserve and maintain through interaction the main Goan culture in the changing world scenario- One World and one Culture'' Club Vasco da Gama, Indo-Portuguese Friendship Society, club National, Club Hrmonia have come together to hold a series of events for the whole week, titled ''Semana de Cultura Portuguesa '' with the help of the Portuguese Consul who has played the role as a facilitator.
Mr Counto said this event would be be made into an annual event, to be held in Goa and Portugal alternatively.
The Executive Committee has been constituted with Dr Paulo Neves Pocinho, the consul General of Portugal in Goa as its convenor.
The events would be held in Panjim, Fontainhas, Porvorim and Taleigao. This is an attempt to be the bridge between Portugal and India and to experience present day Portugal in the context language, food, song, music and dresses.
