Farmers Day observed to create awareness about rice varieties
Hyderabad, Oct 25 (UNI) The Directorate of Rice Research (DRR), a reputed premier research organisation of rice under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), today organised Farmers Day to raise awareness among the farming community about recently developed rice varieties, hybrids and technologies.
According to a press release, about 800 farmers from various villages participated in the programme and visited exhibition stalls installed by reputed organisations like Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU), National Research Centre for Sorghum (NRCS), Directorate of Oilseeds Research (DOR), National Seeds Corporation of India and several other agro-input agencies with their recent inventions.
They also visited the DRR farm, where a cafeteria of varieties of rice and hybrids are being cultivated in a single place for the benefit of the farmers.
During the get together, Dr K Krishaniah, former Director (DRR)and Chief guest of the function, in his address, impressed upon the farmers to take advantage of the new technologies and benefit from them.
During the function, four progressive farmers, including a woman , were felicitated for their achievements.
