Fake certificate racket busted, two held

Hyderabad, Oct 25 (UNI) The city police today busted a fake certificate racket by arresting two persons involved in preparing the certificates of various educational institutes in the state.

Police said one computer, 125 fake educational certificates of various Universities, 23 rubber stamps of various Universities and institutes and other incriminating material were seized from the possession of the accused Md Masee-ur-Rahman and Md Afsar Khan.

The third accused Wazahed Mohiuddin was absconding, police said.

Police said Rahman confessed to have set up an illegal unit, along with Mohiuddin, to supply fake educational certificates of various Universities and institutions in the city to needy customers at high prices. They employed Afsar Khan to operate the computer for this purpose.

The accused were also involved in preparing fake marriage certificates for the last six months, police said, adding they were involved in similar offences earlier in 2003 and 2007.
