CBI wanted naxal held in UP police encounter

Sonebhadra, Oct 25 (UNI) The Special Operation Group (SOG) of Uttar Pradesh Police late last night arrested a naxal, carrying a total bounty of Rs 1.10 lakh on his head and wanted by the CBI, after a fierce encounter in the Paanuganj area of this naxal-infested district.

Providing details about the encounter today, Superintendent of Police (SP) Raj Kumar said Sub-zonal commander of a Moaist organisation Sudama Urao was held after both the sides exchanged 150 rounds of fire in woods at Maukula village.

Senior policemen, including circle officer and the SOG in-charge, were also wounded in the encounter, he informed.

A factory-made gun and a number of cartridges were also seized from the spot.

Sudama's terror prevailed in UP, Bihar and Jharkhand and was facing several charges in Bihar and Sonebhadra (UP).

Besides award of Rs 50,000 by the CBI, the Bihar and UP police had announced a bounty of Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively, on his head.
