General strike in Manipur affects border trade
Imphal, Oct 25: A 48-hour general strike, which began at midnight on Friday, Oct 24 night and a blockade on the Imphal-Moreh road on Saturday, Oct 25 affected border trade between Manipur and Myanmar. The strike was called by the Joint Action Committee to protest killing of one Md Yahiya Khan, allegedly by security personnel, on Tuesday at Imphal East.
Local residents of Sora, Thoubal district, blocked the Imphal-Moreh road following which none of the vehicles could proceed to Moreh, the trade centre at Chandel district.
The JAC demanded a judicial probe into the killing.
