Vikram Phandis displays his collection at LFW Day Four
Mumbai, Oct 24 (UNI) Designer Vikram Phandis displayed his Spring/Summer '09 collection of bright pinafores and blouses with leggings reminiscent of the 80s' look at the Lux Show Time on Day Four of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) here.
First part included elements of glam and punk rock influences with the dresses in sequined gold blouses and tops. The skirts varied from minis to knee length and matched with yellow and orange leggings. Some bright tie-and-dyed skirts and maxis added softness and subtlety to the sharp and loud collection.
The mens segment had white shirts and cream sherwanis, alternatively coupled with cotton capris and trousers.
Cricketer Sreesanth and actress Priyanka Chopra added the glam quotient to the event yesterday. The finale of the collection was a performance by Shaimak Davar and his troupe. Though his performance was good, his cover of ''I'm Alive'' by Canadian singer Celine Dion was predictable and rather tame. The whole look of his show also made one suspect that he lifted his idea from Victoria's Secret's show ''angels'' and Las Vegas showgirls and with a sequined jacket-Elvis. All in all, an entertaining but predictable performance that lacked originality and innovation, both by the Vikram Phandis and Shaimak.
