New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) The country added 9.79 million telephone connections, both in wireline and wireless segments, during September this year, taking the total subscriber base to 353.66 million by the month-end.
The overall tele-density has reached 30.64 per cent at the end of September as against 29.83 per cent in the last month, a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) statement said here today.
The number of customers stood at 343.87 million at the end of August, with addition of 9.03 million users during that month.
The total wireless subscribers (GSM, CDMA and WLL(F)) base stood at 315.31 million at the end of September, with addition of 10.07 million users.
However, 9.16 million customers were added in wireless sector during August.
In the wireline segment, the subscriber base has decreased to 38.35 million in the month of September as against 38.63 million subscribers in August 2008, registering a drop of 0.30 million.
Total broadband subscribers base reached 4.90 million in September, compared to 4.73 million during the previous month.
