Star Jalsa registers 60 per cent growth in viewership since launch
Kolkata, Oct 24 (UNI) Newly launched Bengali entertainment channel 'Star Jalsa' has registered 60 per cent growth in its viewership in the last six weeks since its launch on September 8.
''As per TAM ratings, Star Jalsa has grown by 60 per cent in All Day Channel shares whereas channels like Zee Bangla and ETV Bangla have dropped by 21 per cent and 18 per cent respectively. Within six weeks from its launch, Star Jalsa's GRP shot up from 92 to 139, acquiring the third position, beating Akash Bangla,'' a release issued here today by Prem Kamath, vice-president, content and communication, Star India Pvt Ltd, claimed.
''We launched Star Jalsa with an aim to give viewers a unique range of refreshing serials, short thriller films, a talk show and a reality show. The growth in the GRP within the first six weeks of launching the channel has proven that we have been able to set a new benchmark for entertainment on television,'' Mr Kamath said.
He informed that during the past week, Star Jalsa's two most popular shows 'Ekhaney Akash Neel' and 'I Laugh U' had generated a GRP of 0.9 and 1.8 respectively, a 50 per cent growth since the first episodes. He also claimed that the channel had achieved a growth of 76 per cent among the female target audience.
