RO asks Monserrate to reply in SSC case

Panaji, Oct 24 (UNI) Goa Education Minister Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate has been served another notice by Returning Officer of Taleigao Constituency, seeking reply on a complaint filed against him for submitting false educational qualification in an affidavit.

In the notice dated October 21 Mr Sabaji Shetye has asked Mr Monserrate to file his reply with all relevant documents within seven days, while permitting him to inspect the complaint and documents submitted by local NGO Utt Goenkara spokesperson Advocate Aires Rodrigues against him, following his request in reply to a showcause notice on October 3.

The minister had allegedly declared in an affidavit, while filing his nomination from the 11-Taleigao Assembly constituency during the May 2007 state legislative assembly election, that he had passed SSC from St Theresa High School in Bandra, Mumbai, while according to the principal of the school, Mr Monserrate was admitted to the school on June 19, 1975 in class six and left the school on September 7, 1978 in class VIII.
