Rizwanur murder case: Bail plea of Mohiuddin rejected
Kolkata, Oct 24 (UNI) A city court today rejected the bail plea of S M Mohiuddin, who was chargesheeted by the CBI in connection with the Rizwanur Rehman murder case.
Mohiuddin, alias Pappu, applied for an anticipatory bail before the city civil and sessions court as a lower court directed him to appear on October 27.
''Mohiuddin prayed anticipary bail before the court fearing arrest on the day he is due to appear before the court,'' the prosection said.
He was chargesheeted by the CBI on a high court order, along with six others, on the charge of abetting in the circumstances that led the computer graphic designer Rizwanur Rehman to commit suicide.
Judge R N Malik rejected the bail plea of Mohiuddin as the CBI and the family of Rizwanur opposed the bail plea.
CBI counsel Partha Tapaswi produced the case diary as evidence against Mohiuddin.
Rizwanur married a Hindu girl, Priyanka Todi, last September which was not accepted by her family.
It was alleged that Mohiuddin took bribe of several lakhs of rupees from Ashok Todi, father of Priyanka, for breaking their marriage.
