Kanpur, Oct 24 (UNI) Days after his mother and Congress President Sonia Gandhi dared Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati to send her to jail, Party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today echoed the same views saying he was also willing to go to jail or anywhere, but would not stop coming to this state.
The outburst of Congress MP from Amethi comes in the wake of alleged vindictiveness of the Mayawati government against him.
''I will continue to come here despite all the displeasure of Mayawati,'' he told mediapersons on the sidelines of Samajik Samrasta Mahasangam organised by the local party unit here.
In reply to a question, the Congress MP said he was not aware why the UP CM was hostile towards him or his mother, but it would not deter him from visiting the state. ''I will never stop coming here irrespective of whatever she does against me,'' he said.
Mr Gandhi said the UP Chief Minister might send me anywhere, but could not stop me from coming here and interacting with people.
When specifically asked if he was willing to go to jail, he said ''anywhere, anywhere and that inlcudes jail as well''.
The Congress MP was sore about the fact that he was denied permission to attend an interactive session with the students of Chandrashekhar Azad University. ''I made it a point to visit the venue to keep my promise,''he pointed out.
To another query, he said most of the students' problems were related to lack of educational and infrastructural facilities. ''I assured them to do whatever is possible at my level,'' he said.
