Mumbai, Oct 24 (UNI) Day Five at the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) was kick started by two designers -- Preeti Chandra and Sherina here, with both setting new standards today.
Delhi-based Preeti's collection hit the ramp first with her strong Spanish themed collection perfectly capturing the grace and haughtiness of Spanish couture with printed gowns, pinafores with puffed sleeves, printed short skirts and low-cut maxis cut to create figure accentuating flows dominating the collection. Preeti showed her class as a designer by using few colours like purple, pink and orange -- but combining them brilliantly and never repeating her designs.
She used large circular earings, chunky silver necklaces as accessories and wedge heels for footwear to reinforce her strong designs.
UK born Mumbai-based Sherina Dalamal's collection from her label ''Cherie D'' displayed an equally strong collection of evening and cocktail dresses. The designer's cuts and lines were confident and understated without compromising the glamour and the bling factor so essential for a coctail party. To take nothing away from Sherina, her style also revealved influences of top designers Nicole Frahi and Alexander McQueen, under whom Sherina learnt the ropes of making beautiful clothes.
The collection of cream and white evening gowns, white sleeveless blouse with a black mini, sequined with crystal stripes, crystal embroidered cocktail mini, low cut silver and champagne tinted gown is a proof that the young designer has come of age.
