Nari Samaj demands release of innocents in Kandhamal violence
Bhubaneswar, Oct 24 (UNI) Thousands of adivasi and dalit women under the banner of ''Nari Samaj'' today demanded the release of all innocent tribals and dalits in the strife- torn Kandhamal and security to the riot victims who had returned to their villages from the relief camp.
The Nari Samaj, an apex body of 54 women organisation in the state, held a massive demonstration before the State Assembly here demanding CBI inquiry into the murder of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and the violence perpetrated on the innocent people in Kandhamal.
The demonstrators demanded action against the police who remained just mute spectators to the violent incidents in the district.
Nari Samaj leader Karmi Besra announced that the organisation would form peace committee in 4,900 village to isolate the perpetrators of the violence and set up state level peace committee which would encourage the victims residing in the relief camps to return to their villages.
The members of the peace committee, she said, would accompany the victims and help them to settle down in their respective villages and demanded that the central and the state government should provide all assistances and protection to the state peace committee and the riot victims.
The leaders of Nari Samaj also announced to construct inter religious peace mandir with the support of the civil societies in all the districts of the state where people from all religions would practice their rituals under one roof.
