Miandad ''not interested'' in coaching Pakistan

By Staff

Lahore, Oct 24 (UNI) Dismissing media reports that he has been offered the coach's job by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), former captain Javed Miandad today said he is not interested in taking charge of the national squad.

''There is no truth in these reports that I am aiming to become coach once again. I have been asked to join the Board's governing body and I aim to do that because I am ready to serve Pakistan cricket in any capacity. But I am not looking for any coaching job with the national team or to become even a selector,'' Miandad told mediapersons.

Miandad, who has coached the Pakistan team thrice in the past, was responding to reports that he was offered the job by PCB chairman Ijaz Butt on Wednesday.

The former explosive batsman insisted that he went to meet Butt as a courtesy call and was asked to serve as a governing body member.

''I want to help Pakistan cricket move forward. But a lot of hard work needs to be done and the board system and set-up really needs to be improved and made more productive and accountable and if the new Chairman wants to do this I am ready to cooperate and help in any way,'' he added.
