Bangalore: Man held for blackmailing young girls

Bengaluru, Oct 24: A handsome looking man was arrested on Thursday, Oct 23 for allegedly blackmailing young girls. Somashekhar alias Surya (26), a resident of Madanayakanahalli, landed in the Jayanagar police net following a complaint by some of the victims

Surya, who had been taken into custody in several cases like mobile thefts earlier, had started luring college students and working women. He would impress them, win their confidence and invite them to movies, malls, parks and eating joints . Then he would take their photographs and blackmail them to part with their valuables, jewellery and cash. According to the police, Surya had been taken into custody earlier by Tilak Nagar and Jayanagar police in various cases three years ago, and 105 mobile phones and again in 2007, 21 gold coins worth Rs 2 lakh were seized from him.
