Man gets 30 years imprisonment in nine loot cases
Rajkot, Oct 24 (UNI) A fast track court here today sentenced a man to 30 years imprisonment for his involvement in nine loot cases.
Fast Track Court Judge M A Sopariwala found Nitin Bhatt guilty in nine out of ten cases and awarded 30 years imprisonment. The court also slapped a fine of Rs 30,000, in deafault of which, the accused will have to undergo more imprisonment of 30 months.
According to prosecution, Bhatt, hailing from Surat, was arrested near Rajkot bus station while he was moving in a suspicious manner in May last year. The search yielded valuables such as mobile, SIM card of different companies, ATM card, unknown person's driving license and passport size photos of unknown persons.
During interrogation, he revealed that he used to loot the bus passengers. His modus operandi was to get acquainted with a passenger travelling by bus in which he was travelling and then loot his valuables after giving him drug-laced tea. When the passenger lost his consciousness, the accused used to flee with the booty.
He has confessed to having looted valuables worth about Rs three lakh from the passengers during last three years, prosecution added.
