JSW Steel Q2 net slips 40.57% to Rs 317.45 cr

New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) JSW Steel, the country's third-biggest producer, today said its net profit for the second quarter ended September 30 declined to 40.57 per cent to Rs 317.45 crore, compared to Rs 534.19 crore during the same period last year.

The company's total income, however, surged 56.40 per cent to Rs 4,311.77 crore in Q2FY09 from Rs 2,756.86 crore in Q2FY08.

The Group posted a net profit of Rs 252.44 crore for quarter July-September 2008, whereas it was Rs 516.20 crore in the year-ago period, reporting a decline of 51.09 per cent.

Its total income jumped 68.57 per cent to Rs 4,686.81 crore in Q2FY09 from Rs 2,780.20 crore in Q2FY08, a statement said here.
