New Delhi, Oct 24 (UNI) The government today said India Post will start its service of gold coin sales through post offices in Punjab from tomorrow, besides offering five per cent discounts to the customers in the festive season till end of the current month.
In association with World Gold Council and Reliance Money Ltd, a part of the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG), India Post had on October 15 introduced the sale of gold coins through 102 post-offices in Gujarat, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
Considering the overwhelming demand for the service, the gold coins will be sold at select post offices in Ludhiana and Jallandhar, an official statement said here.
''The Department is also offering five per cent special discount to its customers during this festive season which will be valid up till the end of the current month,'' it added.
On the eve of Dhanteras, which falls on Sunday, the 26th October, India Post has made special arrangements to keep some of its offices open for the service.
This sale of 24-carat gold coins of 0.5 gram, one gram, five grams and eight grams denominations has enhanced the revenue of the Department, the statement said.
