Chennai, Oct 24 (UNI) The Kongu Vellala Gounder Peravai will stage a demonstration in ten districts of Tamil Nadu to highlight various issues, including the Sri Lankan Tamils.
Talking to newsmen here, Peravai General Secretary Eswaran said the agitation would be held in ten Kongu Districts, including Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Namakkal, Erode and Salem.
The agitation was to condemn the Tamil Nadu Government on frequent power cuts putting all sections of people to great hardship.
He urged the governemnt to stop providing electricity to MNCs till the power situation improved in the State.
Alleging the livelihood of the farmers was greatly affected due to non availability of fertilisers, Mr Eswaran said farmers were forced to buy fertilisers from open market by paying higher prices.
Compounding their woes was the frequent power cuts, he said and added even the sugarcane farmers were suffering badly and wanted the State Government to increase the State Advisory Price (SAP) to Rs 2,000 per tonne.
The demonstration was also to condemn the killing of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Observing the Central and State Governments were duty bound to protect the Tamils, Mr Eswaran said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi should prevail over Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to intervene and stop the killings.
