Hyderabad, Oct 24 (UNI) In keeping with Railway Minister Lalu Prasad's announcement during the railway budget, a Garibrath train service was introduced today between Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, bringing airconditioned travel within the reach of poor people.
Union Minister of state for Railways R Velu flagged off the fully air-conditioned train with concessional fares.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Velu said the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government wanted to bring air-conditioned coach travel within the reach of common man.
The express train will leave Secunderabad on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2015 hrs and reach Visakhapatnam at 0730 hrs the next day. In the return direction, it will leave Visakhapatnam on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 2045 hrs and reach Secunderabad at 0810 hrs the next day.
The fare from Hyderabad to Visakhapatnamhas been fixed at Rs 499 as against Rs 750 in other trains and Rs 650 in airconditioned buses.
