Arrest Karunanidhi
Chennai, Oct 24: Jayalalithaa the opposition AIADMK leader on Thursday, Oct 23 demanded the arrest of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi for allowing pro-LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam)leaders and personalities freely in the state. She also called for the dismissal of DMK government for supporting the banned militant outfit.
Reacting to the arrest of her ally and MDMK chief Vaiko and that of party's presiding chairman M Kannappan on the charge of speaking in support of the Tamil Tigers(LTTE), Jayalalithaa wanted to know why the others who spoke similarly in support of the LTTE were untouched. She referred to the recent rally of the film industry at Rameswaram in support of the Sri Lankan Tamils and demanded to know why directors Seeman, Ameer and Bharatiraja have not been arrested though they spoke against India's sovereignty and action not taken against filmmaker Rama Narayanan for having arranged that rally.
Even before Vaiko and Kannappan expressed their views, these people had spoken in disregard for Indian sovereignty and yet, the government took no action against them, Jayalalithaa said.
