Too early to talk about alliance with JD(S): KPCC Chief
Manipal, Oct 23 (UNI) Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President R V Deshpande today said it was too early to talk about a poll alliance with Janata Dal(S) in the coming byelections to eight assembly constituencies in the state.
Talking to newspersons here, on the difference of opinion among the Congress leaders on the alliance issue, Mr Deshpande said once the issue comes before him he would take into confidence senior party leaders, including Mr Siddaramaiah and Mr Jaffer Sharif before taking any decision.
However, it was for the party high command to take a final decision on the issue, he said.
He said both JD(S) and the Samajwadi party in the state were supporting the Congress candidates in the elections to three Legislative Council seats scheduled for October 31.
Responding to a question, Mr Deshpande said Congress would not indulge in or play any 'dirty politics' or never encourage defection like 'Operation Lotus' taken up by the BJP in the state to woo the party leaders from other political parties.
''It is a most sinful act and against all Democratic norms. The people will give a fitting reply to that party (BJP) in the coming election,'' he said.
