NDA will focus on education if voted to power: Advani
Belgaum, Oct 23 (UNI) If voted back to power the BJP-led NDA will usher in a sea change in the education system like it did to road infrastructure under Golden Quadrilateral project connecting the four corners of the country with world class highways, senior BJP leader L K Advani said today.
Speaking at the Silver Jubilee function of Gogte Institute of Technology here, he said his party believed in providing higher education to any youth who was competent.
''I am against quota system in higher education. We want this to go and if NDA comes back to power we will ensure higher education to all competent youth by making it affordable and bringing in important changes in education.
''This is our new goal,'' he said.
He said during the last 15 to 20 years there had been a revolutionary change in the education system in the country. This had not happened during the last 500 years.
''This should be continued. Education will be our (NDA's) first priority,'' he said.
He regretted that most of the political parties in the country have become 'business entities' of persuing vote bank politics.
However, the NDA regime under former Prime Minister A B Vajpayee was different and took the country on the path of fast paced development.
''If we are voted back to power, we will do the same to the education sector,'' he added.
