Jammu, Oct 23 (UNI) A group of unidentified militants killed one civilian and injured other in Gandoh area of Doda district while a mine was defused by the troops of Border Security Force (BSF) in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here today said.
''Unidentified militants last night entered into the house of one Liaqat Hussain and discriminately opened fire in which one Mohd Yousuf, resident of Haddal, who had gone to the house of Liyqat, died on the spot while other civilian was injured,'' official sources told UNI.
The wounded civilian identified as Hashim Din was evacuated to the near-by Haddal Post and was later shifted to the Sub-District Hospital Gandoh.
Meanwhile, a mine was diffused in Bobiya area of Kathua district last night.
''The BSF guards of 4th Bn posted at Chakra Post detected the mine and informed the Bomb Disposal Squad, who rushed to the spot and defused it,'' sources said.
However, on specific information, a search operation was launched in Gulabgarh area of Reasi district.
''Militants opened fire upon the search party, which was retaliated triggering into a fierce gun battle but militants managed to escape taking the shelter of dense forest,'' sources asserted.
