Jassa Singh festival begins at Kapurthala on Nov 7

Kapurthala, Oct 23 (UNI) The 7th Baba Jassa Singh Kapurthala heritage festival of classical music and dance will be held at local Sainik School from November 7 to 9.

Disclosing this here today Deputy Commissioner J M Balamurugan said that Bhai Nirmal Singh will perform shabad kirtan , Pt Ajay Pohankar (Classical vocal) and Wadali brothers (Sufiana Kalam) on the opening day of t he festival.

Pt Sandeep Das and Shubh Maharaj(Tabla Duet) and Shovana Naryan (Kathak dance) will perform on November 8 while Purbayan Chattterjee (Sitar and World Music) and Ustad Shaukat Ali of Pakistan (Ghazals, Punjabi folk and Sufiana kalam) will perform on the closing day.

The DC disclosed that more than one hundred students were getting training in classical music and dance in the Kapurthala Kala Kendra set up in Virsa Vihar here. A ten day workshop on the training of sculptor was also organised at Virsa Vihar Kendra by renowned sculptor, A C Sagar and more a hundred students from schools and colleges got training.

He disclosed that a cultural evening would be organised on every Saturday and Sunday in the Kapurthala Kala Kendra for the residents of the district.
