Manipal, Oct 23: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President R V Deshpande today said that it is too early to talk about poll alliance with Janata Dal(S) in the coming by-elections to eight assembly constituencies due in the State.
When asked about difference of opinion among the Congress leaders on the alliance issue, Mr Deshpande said that once the issue comes before him he would take into confidence senior party leaders including Mr Siddaramaiah and Mr Jaffer Sharif before taking any decision. However, it is for the party high command to take a final decision on the issue.
He said that both JD(S) and Samajwadi party in the state are supporting Congress candidates in the elections to three Legislative Council seats scheduled for October 31.
Replying another question, Mr Deshpande said that Congress would not indulge or play any 'dirty politics' or never encourage defection like 'Operation Lotus' taken up by the BJP in the state to woo the party leaders from other political parties. "It is a most sinful act and against all democratic norms. The people will give a fitting reply to that party (BJP) in the coming election," he said.
