Govt says Bangla Govt asked for transit to NE states
New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) The Government today said it has regularly raised with the Bangladesh Government the issue of transit by road, train and by riverways to the Northeastern states at various levels.
"While there has been progress with regard to transit via the Padma to Dhubri and beyond along the Brahmaputra, transit through the Barak and other rivers is still to be agreed upon," Minister for Development of Northeastern Region Mani Shankar Aiyar said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.

said
for
passengers,
but
not
for
goods,
there
was
no
through
traffic
but
buses
ran
between
Kolkata
and
Dhaka
and
between
Dhaka
and
Agartala.
However,
transit
by
rail
had
not
been
agreed
upon
so
far,
he
said,
adding
that
"the
dialogue
is
ongoing."
