Goalkeeping saves JCT against United SC

By Staff

Kolkata, Oct 23 (UNI) Karamjit Singh's valiant goalkeeping saved fancied JCT from a possible defeat at the United SC as they settled for a goalless draw at Yuvabharati Krirangan here this evening.

Singh's brilliant keeping made United's veteran midfielder Dulal Biswas a villain as his failed penalty shot five mintues from lemon break deprived Subrata Bhattachjee's side full three points at home.

United was awarded a spot kick when Duwait Singh handled a ball from Shehashish Chakraborty inside the box on the 39th minute.

Biswas' shot nicely anticipated by Singh and full length diving on his right proved fruitful that made coach Sukwinder Singh happy with a point.

JCT at the end of fifth round collected eight points while United was stranded with four points from five matches.

United had supremacy in both halves creating some chances but Singh came in the way.

JCT's trump card Eduardo Escobar was colourless, probably due to injury in the first half, was taken away in the second season.

The millmen had surprised all when they thrashed reigning champion Dempo 2-1 in the opener, but lost to Mahindra United 0-1 before coming here. Before that, JCT drew 0-0 with Vasco and beat Mohammedan Sporting by two goals against none.
