B'desh HC asks govt to embargo selling tainted melamine powder milk
Dhaka, Oct 23 (UNI) Bangladesh High Court today directed the military-backed caretaker government to issue embargo on displaying or selling tainted melamine-mixed eight foreign brands of powder milk.
The brands are Diploma, Red Cow, Dano, Lashy-1 , Lashy-2 , Sweet Baby, Nido and Anlene which have been sent abroad for laboratory test.
The High Court direction would be in force until the laboratory test reports on the branded milk were received from abroad.
The High Court also asked the government to showcause why a direction should not be given to take steps for protecting health security of the citizens.
Earlier, lawyer Manzill Murshid, president of Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh appeared for petitioners who filed a public interest litigation writ.
