Youth held for providing shelter to SIMI treasurer in MP
Jabalpur, Oct 22 (UNI) A youth was arrested for allegedly giving shelter to banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) treasurer Mohammad Ali, who was hiding in this cantonment town of Madhya Pradesh, police said today.
City Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tripathi said on a tip-off, Sheikh Afroz Mohammad (25) was arrested yesterday.
Sheikh, resident of Gohalpur area behind Sanjivini Hospital here, admitted that he used to pick SIMI treasurer from the railway station and provided him shelter at his residence for two-three days. He also used to see-off him back at railway station.
The accused was well acquainted with the fact that besides being an active member of SIMI, Mohammad Ali was an abscondee and a case was registered against him in Gohalpur police station area, police added.
