Patna, Oct 22 (UNI) East Central Railway (ECR) today cancelled eight trains and diverted the route of eight other long route trains following violent agitation of students in protest against recent assualts on North Indians in Mumbai by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.
A release of the ECR issued here today stated that the trains cancelled included 2024/2023 Patna-Howarh-Patna Janshatabdi Express, 8184 Danapur-Tata Express, 3226 Danapur-Jaynagar-Saharsa Intercity Express, 3234 Danapur-Rajgir-Danapur Intercity Express, 544 Danapur Rajgir passenger train, 574 Patna Gaya passenger train, 583 Jhajha quil passenger train and 511 Patna Buxar passenger train.
The route of 2311 Howarh-Kalka mail, 2307 Howrah-Jodhpur Express, 2321 Howrah-Mumbai Mail, 2875 Puri-New Delhi Neelanchal Express, 8611 Ranchi-Varanasi Express, 3009 Howrah-Dehradun Express, 2175 Howrah-Gwalior Express and 2801 Puri-New Delhi Express had been diverted due to the agitation.
Two other passenger trains namely 211 Howrah-Rajgir and 213 Howrah-Mokameh were partially suspended.
Meanwhile, railway sources said here the DRM would review the situation this evening and plying of trains would resume if the situation was found to be fully under control.
