Textiles Ministry pays Rs 4.29 cr for JBY insurance premium to LIC
New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela handed over the contribution of Rs 4.29 crore towards Government's share of annual premium towards Janashree Bima Yojna to Executive Director, LIC of India here today.
The Ministry of Textiles will provide insurance coverage under the Janashree Bima Yojana to about 8 lakh artisans who have been covered under the Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Swasthaya Yojana during 2007-08.
The coverage under Janshree Bima Yojana will be available to these artisans across the country except six states of Mizorm, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Jammu&Kashmir and Chhatisgarh.
LIC of India will provide insurance cover for one year beginning November 1, 2008 for which the artisans will not have to contribute their share of the annual premium.
