New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition of Vikas Yadav seeking transfer of his appeal pending in Delhi High Court to Allahabad High Court.
Vikas Yadav, son of former Rajya Sabha member D P Yadav, is serving life imprisonment in the Nitish Katara murder case and also undergoing a four-year imprisonment in the Jessica Lal murder case on the charges of destruction of evidence.
Counsel for Vikas Yadav submitted before a bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and H S Bedi that his client was being subjected to media trial in Delhi and the media was influencing the court of justice in this case.
The apex court, however, was not impressed by the argument and dismissed the petition.
The court also refused to entertain the request of Vikas Yadav for transfer of his case to any other High Court in the country.
Nitish Katara was murdered by Vikas Yadav and his cousin Vishal Yadav for having a love affair with Bharati Yadav, sister of the petitioner, as Yadavs were opposed to this affair.
D P Yadav is a terror in Uttar Pradesh and was a Minister in the UP government headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav.
