New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today congratulated the Indian Space Research Organistaion (ISRO) team for the successful launch of India's maiden mission to the moon, Chandrayaan I, from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota today.
Conveying his happiness over the launch to ISRO Chairman G Madhavan Nair, Mr Singh said, "It is indeed a very proud moment for all Indians as with this launch, India now joins the elite club of countries like the US, Russia and China that have accomplished significant achievements in space activities.
Highlighting the role of the NDA government on the mission, he said, "This mission was conceived during the NDA regime and then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had made the announcement from the ramparts of the Red Fort on August 15, 2003." Today, with this successful launch, the scientists of our country have presented yet another shining example of India's immense potential and talent to achieve even higher accomplishments.
And this achievement has also given the countrymen a much needed moment of cheer especially at a time when India is facing a gloomy scenario on many fronts, he added.
