Mumbai, Oct 22 (UNI) Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray finally returned to his Shivaji Park residence ''Krishna Kunj'' here at about 1800 hrs today, after a 38-hour ordeal with the police and spending a night in the police lock-up.

Mr Thackeray, accompanied by his wife Sharmila, arrived in a car from Kalyan.

The MNS leader was given bail by a Kalyan court in Thane district following a case registered against him for rioting.

However, the Government Railway Police also wanted his custody in a similar case, but his lawyers were quick to move an anticipatory bail plea, which was accepted by the court, which granted him interim relief till October 24.

However, Mr Thackeray's legal hassles were not yet over as he received a notice from a Vikhroli court, which had earlier granted him bail on February 13 this year, asking him why the bail granted to him may not be cancelled.

Magistrate S J Sharma, in his order had stated that the MNS chief should never in his political career, in capacity of a political leader, breach peace and tranquility in Maharashtra state.

The bail would stand cancelled if he ever broke the law of the land, the order stated.
