Political parties to pay for losses during agitations
Mumbai, Oct 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today approved an ordinance to amend the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, that would hold political parties and its leaders responsible for any damage to public property caused during their agitation.
A decision to this effect was taken in the cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Under the amended law, the district collectors will have the authority to recover the damages caused during the agitation.
