One killed, 4 injured in two road mishaps

Hoshiarpur, Oct 22 (UNI) A youth was killed while two of his friends were injured when the motorcycle they were riding was hit by a jeep near Dhamai village in the district last night, police today said.

The deceased was identified as Rohit of Sahiba village while the injured were identified as Ram Singh of Chhadauri and Manpreet Singh, alias Bikka, of Malpur.

Both the injured were admitted in the Civil Hospital at Garhshankar from where they were referred to DMC, Ludhiana as their condition was stated to be critical.

The Garhshankar police today has registered a case under sections 279, 304, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC in this connection.

In another accident, as many as 30 students of a public school of Rajpur Bhaian had a miraculous escape when the driver of the van ferrying them to school lost control over the vehicle and hit two cyclists near Rorian village. The injured cyclist were identified as Gurmail Singh of Jalowal Khanoor and Narinder Pal of Chiton. They were both admitted to the civil hospital here.
