Mysuru, Oct 22: Traffic snarls near Crawford Hall will be a thing of the past as an underbridge will be constructed there in due course.

The Railways has agreed to take up the work. It is likely to begin within a month. It will replace the manned level-crossing where vehicles line up on either side of the road waiting for trains to pass. .

C H Vijayashankar, MP, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, inspected the site and directed the officials to initiate the necessary measures to expedite the work.

Similarly, the people of Naganahalli have demanded an overbridge or underbridge as the railway track cuts across the village. While the houses are located on one side of the track, the residents of Naganahalli have to cross the tracks for their daily activities. The railway authorities agreed to work on a blueprint and submit it to the Mysore Urban Development Authority, which will fund the project. A similar project will also come up near the K.R. Mill Colony.

Mr. Vijayshankar later inspected the underbridge in front of the Saraswathipuram Fire Station and directed that lighting be provided there. Another complaint was of flooding at the underbridge during the monsoon as a result of which the asphalted road is full of potholes.

Mr. Vijayshankar urged the authorities to provide an outlet for the discharge of water. The authorities have promised to take up the work at the earliest.
