New York, Oct 22 : While 'Michelle' is considered to be Paul McCartney's most cloying composition, the former Beatle had really penned to attract girls, claims a new book.

In the book on British pop, author Gordon Thompson revealed that the 66-year-old singer's goal was to write something that would help attract girls.

McCartney began composing the tune as a student at the Liverpool Institute.

"His musical goal was to 'write something with a melody and a bass line,' while his social goal was to evoke 'that French existential thing' as a way to attract girls," the New York Post quoted Thompson as writing.

Meanwhile, Macca's has asked American heiress Nancy Shevell to move in with him permanently at his sprawling Peasmarsh estate.

The move, which comes just five months after he divorced Heather Mills, had McCartney seeking the blessings of his four-year-old daughter Beatrice with Mills, before asking Shevell to live with him.
