Lokayukta unearths Rs 14 cr illegal assets
Bangalore, Oct 22 (UNI) Karnataka Lokayukta sleuths, during raids on the residences of 12 officials, including a Deputy Superintendent of Police, today unearthed assets disproportionate to their known sources of income to the tune of over Rs 14 crore.
Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde told newspersons here that a Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat official, found to possess assets worth Rs 2.79 crore, topped the list, followed by a Motor Vehicles Inspector of Bijapur who had acquired assets worth nearly Rs 1.96 crore.
Mahadevappa Hanumantha Bheemakkanavar, Executive Engineer, Zilla Panchayat, Gulbarga whose known sources of income was Rs three lakh annually was found in possession of assets worth Rs 2.79 crore, including houses, agriculture lands and a star hotel in Bagalkot.
M Shivaprasad, Motor Vehicles Inspector, Bijapur, was found to possess assets including houses, lands and six vehicles valued at Rs 1.96 crore as against his known source of income of Rs 22 lakh.
Surendra Rao, Dy SP (Crime) at office of Director General of Police, whose known income was Rs 35 lakh, was found to have acquired assets worth Rs 1.38 crore. His bank locker was yet to be opened, Hegde said.
He said Yelahanka Police Inspector Obalesh possessed assets worth Rs 1.27 crore against Rs 20 lakh from known source of income.
