New Delhi, Oct 22 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today suspended CPI(M) Member Abdulla Kutty from Kerala for the day for defying the Chair.
The member was not paying heed to the Speaker's direction not to display a newspaper to support his demand for rice for Kerala.
Displaying newspapers and other documents, several CPI(M) and CPI members, shouting slogans, earlier entered the well of the House. They were also demanding adequate supply of foodgrains to the state from the Central Pool.
At this point, the Speaker warned Mr Kutty against displaying the paper and as the member refused to comply with the direction, he was asked to remove himself from the House for the day.
Later, the Speaker issued a similar warning to Mr Ram Kripal Yadav (RJD) that if he again displays any paper, he, too, will be suspended for the day.
The Speaker said he would be forced to suspend all the agitating members if they defied the direction of the Chair.
